Game of the Year awards
The GameSpot Game of the Year awards for PC and consoles were given from 1998 to 2001. Games of the Year are chosen by a panel of game critics, publishers, and other media outlets. It’s an award that recognizes a video game that has done something extraordinary.
The awards were hosted by Geoff Keighley. He has been involved in the creation of the Game Awards. His writing has appeared in GameSlice, and he’s hosted numerous gaming events.
The GameSpot Awards are held every year to honor the best and worst gaming achievements. These awards are based on a number of categories. They are determined by an international jury of over 100 media outlets.
In the past, the awards were known as the Spike Video Game Awards. After the title changed to VGX, Spike TV dropped the awards.
Unions
The video game industry has been the latest media industry to be the target of unionization efforts. According to a GDC survey, more than half of respondents believe that the games industry should be able to unionize.
Unions have been common in television and film, but it seems that unionization has become more relevant in the video game industry in recent months. Several high-profile employees have recently announced their plans to form a union.
QA workers at Raven Software, a Call of Duty studio, recently held a union vote. Now, they will try to make a deal with Activision Blizzard, the company that makes the popular shooter series.
In the US, Starbucks and Amazon employees are currently unionizing. Nintendo has been accused of bad management at work, and Bethesda has also been accused of the same thing.
